Our Scholar’s Cup CCA children have excelled this Term under challenging circumstances. Normally, children in this CCA take part in a Taiwan national round and in the past, have always gone on to qualify for a Global round. Due to our borders remaining largely closed, these rounds have not been able to proceed.

So what is Scholar’s Cup? It is:

  • Inclusive

  • Encouraging

  • Interdisciplinary

  • Discussion-based

  • Forward-looking

  • Team-oriented

  • Whimsical

  • To inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders.

These ideals are realised through debate, collaborative writing, a Scholar’s Challenge and a Scholar’s Bowl at both National and Global rounds.

However, as an exciting alternative, TES Primary Scholar's Cup children participated in one of two debate showcases at school in front of internal student audiences. The motion for these debate showcase was:

The Primary education experience is more important and enjoyable than the Secondary education experience.

With many of the Scholar's Cup children moving up to Secondary school next year, this proved to be a topical theme. These children put on a stellar debate performance, showcasing clear organisation & clarity; use of supported arguments; use of pre-rebuttal and rebuttal and excellent presentation style. Well done to all. What made this experience even better was the fact that the French Section was represented in the debate teams!
