At the end of Term 1, it was ridiculously close at the top of the House points table, with Marin just edging out Mistral to take the top place.

A lot has happened since then with many House events that have showcased the skills and wide-ranging capabilities of the students, which has had an interesting effect on the table.

The Christmas Quiz and Games were added to the totals as they were too late in the first term to be included in the Term 1 results. Marin was first (750 points) and Mistral was second (600), with Bora (440) and Sirocco (440) sharing the points for 3rd and 4th. A raft of Maths competitions gave Sirocco a chance to gain ground as they came out on top (210), followed by Bora (163), Mistral (153), and Marin (141).

One of the big events of Term 2 was the House Volleyball, which saw teams comprising of students in two year groups get together at lunchtimes to thrash it out on the court. As a whole-school event, there were plenty of points on offer and the results saw Marin (467), Bora (416), Mistral (363), and Sirocco (358) take many points each throughout the competition.

The staff House teams contributed to the overall totals with a fun Tenpin Bowling event, with Mistral winning (200 points), followed by Marin (150), Sirocco (100) and then Bora (50), The creativity of the House captains was put to the test as they embraced the opportunity to get their Houses to perform to the song Kindness by Harry Styles. The judges felt that Marin showed the most creativity and work gaining a mammoth 500 points, followed by Sirocco (400) and then 3rd placed equally were Bora and Mistral (300 points).

Bora won a closely fought House Assembly quiz with 286 points, with the others close behind (Marin 276, Sirocco 274, and Mistral 265), and it was the Year 8s of Sirocco who managed the highest results when faced with the Geopark House competition (150), followed by Bora (75), Mistral (70) and then Marin (55).

The big event at the end of the term was the 50-word short-story competition, which resulted in just under 100 stories being submitted for the House captains to pick their top 3. The judges from the English department debated over the results and the points were very interesting. Sirocco produced over half of the stories and the resulting choices saw them 1st, 3rd, and 10th out of the top 12 stories. This meant that they achieved 413 points overall. In 2nd, thanks to Claire, Bora achieved both the 2nd and 4th chosen stories and gave them 243 points. Mistral (103) and Marin (94) picked up the remaining points in that competition:

H2 End of Year Core games were won by Sirocco with 200 points, followed by Marin (150), Mistral (100) and then Bora (50).

The final House points for Term 2 were for the individual House points that are awarded by teachers in their lessons, as well as the Gold House points, which were given in Term 1 to the individuals who performed particularly well academically and with their Attitude to Learning stars. The individual points saw Sirocco gain ground once more with 196 points, followed by Mistral (181), Marin (173), and finally Bora (65).

Adding all this together, along with the Library book borrowing competition that is ongoing throughout the year, we have an interesting table going into the final term. There are a few plans in place that will ultimately determine where the House trophy ends up this year, hopefully, including a talent competition, as well as the year-ending showcase that will be Sports Day.
