The Pride Alliance is a group of students committed to creating a safe space for all students and staff members. In conjunction with the Student Council’s Valentine’s Day celebration, they hosted Rainbow Day with the key message Love is Love. 

Students and staff alike dressed head to toe in rainbow colours. The Atrium was buzzing with excitement for homemade rainbow cookies, rainbow bracelets, and student-designed stickers. Students also participated in a quiz to test their knowledge of LGBTQ+ history, flags, and terminology. 

Through their participation, students and teachers send a strong message of allyship, unity and inclusivity. It was a colourfully joyful celebration of Taipei European School’s diversity.

Taiwan is a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ rights in Asia. It was the first country in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage in 2019. The annual Pride Parade, held in October,  is Asia’s largest.
