College and High School
The Baccalauréat diploma that marks the end of high school (lycée) is undergoing reform. The first students to sit the new version of the Baccalauréat will do so in 2021. The organisation of studies at a high school level will change considerably in 2019-2020 in preparation for the reforms.
Middle School Curriculum - Le Collège
The Collège welcomes students after CM2 as a continuation of elementary school. From 6ème to 4ème, students will gradually get familiar with a new organisation, new subjects, and new teaching approaches. During the first three years of Collège, the bilingual curriculum is harmonized and provided by the French and British sections.
Subjects taught in French are French, mathematics, history-geography, moral and civic education, life and Earth sciences, physics-chemistry, and technology. Latin is also offered as an elective. Arts, music, physical education classes are delivered in English.
Teaching practices, programmes, and assessment methods may vary depending on the section providing the curriculum. During those “integrated courses,” students sit in class with classmates from the British and German sections. In addition, Chinese civilization and culture are taught in Chinese.
Language Distribution
High School Curriculum - Le Lycée
In 3ème (H1/Grade 9), arts, music, and physical education (EPS) are taught in French as students sit the national diploma - diplôme national du brevet (DNB) at the end of the school year.
From 3ème, English and Chinese lessons are provided by the British Section. Starting in 3ème, students prepare for the IGCSE exam in 2nde. They continue with the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 1ère and Tle.
In 2nde, students consolidate essential skills in all subject areas while enhancing their scientific knowledge and humanities. All students study French, maths, history-geography, two languages, economic and social science, civics, physics- chemistry, biology, sport, and computer science. During the year, the academic advisor and advisory teacher will assist students in selecting their three speciality subjects. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about areas that they are interested in.
The following specialities are offered: maths, physics-chemistry, biology, economic and social sciences, history-geography-geopolitics and political science, foreign languages-literature and culture, humanities-philosophy, and literature. Students choose three specialities in 1ère and continue with only two in Tle. The total time of specialities amounts to 12 hours a week. More information in French is available here.
All students spend sixteen hours a week studying the following eight common subjects (French in 1ère, philosophy in Tle, two modern languages, history-geography, sport, civics, and science), in addition to the specialities they have chosen.
High School students can also choose an elective from Latin (until 2nde), a third modern language, or cinema and audiovisual studies. More information about the cinema is available on the Eduscol website.

University Counselling
Under the supervision of the PRIO (University and College Counsellor) and with the advisory teachers’ assistance, students can receive personalised support and get regular individual meetings to define their projects. The school also provides access to presentations by representatives of higher education. In addition, several activities and initiatives are developed with the CCIFT (France-Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and the CCE (Foreign Trade Advisors) to offer a unique experience from professionals and an internship in a professional environment (2nde). School Life: Preparing Students to Live Together
The mission of the “Vie Scolaire” office is to create the best social and emotional settings so students can grow and learn in a nurturing educational environment. The office values students’ experiences and backgrounds through a positive approach that supports them in their social and emotional development. The office is also responsible for monitoring student attendance, ensuring their safety, and encouraging participation in community life. As part of its activities, it works closely with the teaching team and the counseling office with the vision and missions of the TES in mind.
