I would like to warmly welcome you to the British Secondary and High School Section. Please take your time to find out how our students flourish and learn on their educational journey with us in becoming successful lifelong learners.

Ensuring that our students discover their potential and understand the possibilities that life offers them is at the heart of what we do. Furthermore, we strive to create an environment where our students learn to respect others and take responsibility for their actions. Overall, it is through our integrated approach to education that we provide the conditions for our students to develop into creative individuals who will participate with perseverance both locally and globally in creating a better world.

10 Things You Should Know

Holistic

We encourage the development of the whole person, promoting the long-term success of the children and young people in our care. We care equally about achieving world-class academic outcomes as we do about individual student wellbeing.

Learning

We embrace educational approaches that encourage students to become active, compassionate, lifelong learners. Learning takes place within creative and safe classrooms that promote collaboration, challenge, risk-taking and reflective practice. Learning also happens in our immensely varied Co-Curricular Activities programme.

Wellbeing

We are committed not only to caring for the wellbeing of our students and staff but also to actively educating our community about how to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Community

We are big enough to offer a diverse range of opportunities and small enough to get to know each other well. We value the diversity of our school community (students, parents and staff) and encourage one another to contribute positively, and to our fullest potential.

Service

We know that participation in community life is important. Giving back also helps to improve our own wellbeing. People who are interested in helping others are more likely to rate themselves as happy, and there are lots of opportunities for our students and staff to get involved in service projects.

Growth

There is only ever one focus for development: our core work of teaching and learning. We too are learners, and all of our teachers live by example. Our approach to continuing professional development reflects what we aspire to with our students: a variety of approaches; strategies to reflect individual needs; learning by doing; learning by teaching each other (regularly sharing best practice).

Inclusivity

We believe that all of us are responsible for developing the potential of each member of our school community. Every member of our community is expected to respect and celebrate our multicultural environment and the enrichment this brings.

International

We are an international school community with over forty different nationalities represented amongst the student body. We seek to develop each student as a unique individual and to be independent, principled and mindful members of the local, national and global communities to which we belong.

Character

We believe that it is our role to provide students with opportunities to ‘be at their best’, to graduate knowing who they are and where their strengths lie, but also how they can develop their lesser strengths. Every year on Character Day, we celebrate what it means to be ourselves.

Celebration

We do everything we can to celebrate the successes of our students and staff. We know that to achieve wellbeing and happiness, we must be able to look back on our lives with a sense of accomplishment and be able to say, ‘I did it, and I did it well.'

Student Voices

Meet some of our students

What I love most about TES is how student-driven it is. The voices of students are heard and students are encouraged to take risks and pursue their passions both inside and outside the classroom. This can be in the form of participating or leading CCAs, taking action to fight social injustices they care about or even taking initiative in improving school, to make it an even better learning environment.

Bella, H4

At TES, we have awesome adventures with things like CCAs and school trips, making school life super interesting and enjoyable. This allows us students to express ourselves through creativity, sports and academics.

Ansh, H1

I'm grateful for the friendships that I've made at TES. My classmates are from all over the world, and from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. The school has allowed me to learn so much from them, through co-curricular activities or just the simple classwork we do every day.

Nico, H4

One thing I love about TES is that it is a friendly welcoming place where you can have lots of different learning activities. We are also really independent now that we have our one-to-one computer devices and a non uniform policy.  Poppy, Year 7

At TES we are constantly surrounded by supportive, kind teachers and a superb learning environment that teaches us to not only overcome mistakes but also strive for new experiences.Allison, H1

The physical environment of TES allows us to get the most out of every day, from the large open classrooms where we learn, to outdoor spaces like the basketball court where I love to play with my friends.Watson, Year 7
