The food services team at Taipei European School delivers delicious and healthy meals that reflect the various tastes of a multicultural school population. Variety, nutrition, and balance are the criteria we embrace to ensure students’ nutritional needs are met. We believe that lunch is not just about the food, but rather it is an educational journey that supports our learners to develop a healthy lifestyle.
The school works with professional chefs and a nutritionist to customise menus and portion sizes to our students of all ages and prepare fresh, quality meals daily. Our menus run on 3-week cycles that change every season and feature international as well as traditional local meals. Fresh vegetables and fruits are used whenever possible, and many items are made from scratch. Fresh fruit is offered daily and special occasions and holidays are celebrated with special meals. Students who have dietary needs, food allergies, or food-related medical conditions are accommodated where possible.
Our food is prepared off-site daily by a professional central kitchen facility and delivered to our cafeterias for heating before serving. The kitchen is approved by the local authorities, adhering to the relevant regulations including, but not limited to, processing and preventative controls such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems, SGS lab checks, and is ISO22000 certified. Their brief is to ensure all of our students have access to attractive, thoughtfully prepared, nutritious meals.
We suggest that home lunches are prepared in a thermos container. If your child's home lunch requires heating, we will heat the lunch with an oven for your child (for EPC), or the students may utilize the microwave facility (for ESC).
At our Secondary campus, vending machines are also available to provide juice, soft drink, granola bars, milk, yogurt, and fresh bakery products to complement the individual growing needs of the students.
